General Description:

Under general supervision, provides technical and equipment set-ups for athletic events, physical education classes, and scheduled Community Services events and programs; receives, issues and maintains athletic and physical education equipment and supplies; maintains order in dressing and locker rooms; trains and supervises student assistants; provides custodial services to assigned areas; and does related work as required.

Examples of Duties

Representative Duties:

  • Maintains athletic and physical education equipment and supplies in good repair and in sanitary conditions
  • Prepares athletic and physical education fields, courts and tracks for scheduled classes and events
  • Operates aquatics facility
  • Performs Community Services set-ups as required
  • Performs routine custodial and maintenance duties in gymnasium area
  • Schedules, trains, supervises, and maintains records of student assistants
  • Handles custodial and events emergencies
  • Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge of:
  • Materials and equipment used in team and individual sports
  • General custodial practices and methods

Ability to:
  • Maintain and repair athletic and physical education equipment
  • Run and maintain aquatics facility
  • Maintain records and files
  • Perform routine custodial and minor maintenance duties
  • Train, schedule, and oversee the work of student assistant
  • Follow oral and written directions
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment. In conducting their duties, staff members shall respect and acknowledge the diversity of students and colleagues


Typical Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma OR GED AND two (2) years applicable experience OR the equivalent education and experience.

License or Certificate:

Possession of valid CA driver's license.

Physical Demand and Working Environment:

Environment:

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor work environment with regular exposure to fumes, dust, and odors. There may be travel to different sites and incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

Interview Information:

Applicants deemed highly qualified for the position will be invited to participate in onsite oral interviews conducted by a screening committee. A limited number of candidates will be selected to move forward to the interview stage.
Interview dates are tentatively scheduled for March 10, 2026 with final interviews tentatively scheduled for March 11, 2026.
