COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary Range: Yearly salary of $86,901.00 -$121,795.00 (25/26 Faculty Salary Schedule); Placement within this range is determined by teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking an individual with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and instructional administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. This is a full-time, regular contract position in the Agriculture & Natural Resources Department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Fall Semester, August 2026. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Agriculture & Natural Resources Department at Santa Rosa Junior College offers hands-on, science-based programs that prepare students for thriving careers in vital fields such as animal science, environmental horticulture, natural resource management, sustainable agriculture, viticulture, and veterinary technology. Students can explore disciplines ranging from crop and soil science to habitat restoration, gaining skills that lead to careers in winemaking, resource conservation, agricultural business, and environmental stewardship-or to advanced degrees in related fields. Classes are held across three college sites including Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and Shone Farm in Forestville. With a blend of classroom learning, real-world experience at SRJC's Shone Farm, and connections to industry partners, the department strives to prepare students for work in some of the most important disciplines needed to sustain our food supply and ecosystem. This position will primarily be located at Shone Farm, SRJC's 365-acre diversified farm in the Russian River Valley that includes 120 acres of forest, 100 acres of pasture for various livestock herds, 90 acres of vineyard, 12 acres for crop production, 4 acres of olive and apple trees, and 39 acres of buildings and improvements. It is one of the largest agriculture sites in the California Community Colleges system, and a place where SRJC students practice hands-on applied learning that prepares them for the workplace or transfer to a four-year university. Essential Functions:
- Provide high-quality instruction and academic support to students in Natural Resources and related courses, which may include day, evening, weekend, online, hybrid, and/or off-campus assignments. Many classes include indoor and outdoor instruction.
- Develop, update, and revise curriculum to meet the needs of students pursuing transfer and career education pathways, incorporating current instructional technologies, industry practices, and effective teaching strategies.
- Serve as Program Coordinator and discipline expert for the Natural Resources Program, providing leadership for program planning, coordination, and long-term sustainability, in accordance with the faculty collective bargaining agreement (All Faculty Association contract).
- Engage with local agencies, industry, and community partners to inform curriculum, workforce relevance, and emerging trends.
- Provide vision and strategic direction for program growth and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate the instructional use and stewardship of discipline-related facilities and field sites, including the Shone Farm forest, in collaboration with Shone Farm staff.
- Lead the continued operation and development of the Wildfire Resilience Program (WRP).
- Coordinate program logistics, including course scheduling and field/laboratory resources.
- Establish and maintain safe, inclusive, and effective learning environments, particularly in field-based, laboratory, and applied instructional settings.
- Maintain professional currency in Natural Resource Management and related disciplines through ongoing professional development and engagement with current practices.
- Participate in department, division, and District service, including committee work, curriculum and program assessment, faculty hiring and evaluation processes, and shared governance activities.
- Collaborate with District support staff (including Science Laboratory Instructional Assistants and Coordinator of Science Labs) and community partners to support instructional quality, student success, and program effectiveness.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree(s) or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
OR Associate degree(s) AND six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
OR the Equivalent (Please file for equivalency)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: ecology, forestry, native plants, plant communities, plant propagation, horticulture, restoration ecology, or plant science, with the ability to teach across multiple subject areas as departmental needs evolve.
- Experience supporting academic or workforce programs through curriculum development, coordination, field-based or laboratory instruction, and collaboration with community or agency partners.
- Knowledge of contemporary natural resource management challenges and practices in California-such as wildfire resilience, climate adaptation, habitat restoration, watershed stewardship, or sustainable land management-particularly as they relate to Sonoma County and the greater Bay Area.
- Experience utilizing instructional software and technology to facilitate teaching in natural resources and/or related disciplines.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
