DESCRIPTION

Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) is accepting applications for a 0.5 FTE Noncredit Adult Education Liaison (maximum of 17.5 hours per week) to support instructional improvement, student success, and strategic coordination in adult education programs. This Instructor Special Assignment (ISA) is housed within Academic Affairs and is funded by the California Adult Education Program (CAEP), Student Equity and Achievement (SEA), and other categorical funding sources. This is a specially funded, limited, temporary assignment and the funding is expected to last through June 30, 2026.

The Noncredit Adult Education Liaison will engage in activities that qualify as faculty-related under Education Code 22119.5. These include direct instruction-related services, curriculum implementation, program coordination, compliance monitoring, student advising, faculty collaboration, and academic planning. The liaison will work closely with noncredit faculty, counseling, tutoring services, community partners, and college leadership to coordinate student-centered success strategies and ensure alignment with regional adult education efforts. This includes outreach, onboarding, curriculum support, compliance, and the facilitation of transitions from noncredit to credit pathways.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in adult education, a strong understanding of noncredit student needs, and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for underrepresented and disproportionately impacted students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum qualifications to teach any discipline offered at LATTC.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.



    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT COVID 19 VACCINATION

    Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Health: A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant's expense after selection from an eligible list and prior to employment

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching or coordinating noncredit programs including ESL, ABE, ASE, or workforce preparation.

  • Familiarity with WIOA Title II, CAEP, EL Civics, and other adult education funding and accountability frameworks.

  • Experience with CASAS testing, COAAP implementation, and data collection for measurable skill gains.

  • Ability to develop strong partnerships with community-based organizations, adult schools, workforce boards, and K-12 districts.

  • Demonstrated success in designing or coordinating wraparound support services for nontraditional students.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of culturally responsive pedagogy and equity-focused practices.

  • Proficiency in using data systems to track outcomes and inform programming.

  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency preferred.



    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Program Collaboration

  • Serve as a faculty liaison between Noncredit, Basic Skills, Vocational Education, and Adult Education partner schools to develop and expand noncredit instructional offerings.

  • Facilitate faculty-driven communication and instructional alignment between community-based adult education providers and college departments.

  • Regular meetings with faculty and stakeholders to support planning, program review, and instructional implementation.

    2. Instructional Support & Student Advising

  • Support faculty in outreach, orientation, and onboarding strategies for noncredit learners including ESL, ABE, GED, and workforce preparation students.

  • Collaborate with counseling, academic departments, and instructional leaders to ensure holistic faculty-led academic support services.

  • Provide academic information and guidance to students on faculty-developed pathways, instructional services, and academic transitions.

    3. Faculty Professional Development

  • Organize and/or co-facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty related to adult education pedagogy, data use, and culturally responsive instruction.

  • Remain current on local, state, and federal adult education trends and policies that impact instruction.

  • Assist in implementing new faculty-led initiatives aligned with LATTC's strategic goals and CAEP plans.

    4. Academic Partnerships & Consortia Representation

  • Build and maintain instructional partnerships with adult schools, workforce boards, and educational agencies.

  • Represent faculty interests in regional consortium, CAEP meetings, and academic planning efforts.

  • Coordinate and participate in joint instructional events, adult learner career fairs, and noncredit-to-credit pathway initiatives.

    COMPENSATION

    The salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour, plus an office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
