The Automotive Department at Contra Costa Community College is accepting applications for an Adjunct Faculty (part time). This a temporary assignment that begins Fall 2025.The position requires the ability to teach a number of automotive repair courses, which include Automotive Fundamentals, Automotive Engine Repair, Automotive Drivetrains, Automotive Brakes, Automotive Steering and Suspension, Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning, Automotive Engine Performance, Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.The student population of Contra Costa College (CCC) reflects its surrounding diverse communities. Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
4. meeting with students outside of class;
5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
8. maintaining accurate academic records;
9. performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.CERTIFICATIONMust be ASE certified to teach in the program by September 2025.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCEAny bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience. ORAny associate degree and six years of professional experience.ORSix years of industry professional experience and completing the equivalence of the associated degree. The equivalency is to have college credit that fulfills the general education requirements, including General education classes forArea A: Language and Rationality;Area B: Natural Sciences;Area C: Arts & Humanity;Area D: Social and Behavioral Sciences;Area E: Mathematics Competency;Area F: Ethnic Studies - See page 58 on Contra Costa College's Catalog for more information. For Area G: Automotive Service Technician course work the following Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications:1. G1 Auto Maintenance & Light Repair2. A6 Electrical/Electronic SystemsOR3. ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician.OR4. Minimum Qualification for an "Intern faculty" position: Six years of industry professional experience. Halfway through an AA program and currently enrolled in a program. Must complete the AA program within 2 years of hiring date.
