LOCATION
Palo Verde College is located in the City of Blythe at one of the busiest entrance points to California. The college is located in a desert oasis adjacent to the beautiful Colorado River and the Palo Verde Valley. Blythe, and the fertile Palo Verde Valley, is primarily a farming and ranching area. Boating, fishing and hunting attract many tourists. The Palo Verde Valley is centrally located between Phoenix and Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Mexican border. The valley's great climate, with more than 350 days of sunshine and mild winters, attracts thousands of winter visitors every year.
NATURE OF THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Director of Admissions & Records, the Admissions and Records Technician I performs computer data entry functions and diverse record keeping and verification tasks necessary for the maintenance and processing of student records as required for the reporting of student registration, achievement, and attendance information.
Examples of Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs departmental operations, including processing a variety of documents, updating student records, and registering students.
2. Perform computer data entry and/or retrieval of all academic records, including admissions applications, enrollments, drop/adds, withdrawals, and other related personal student information.
3. Assist the Director in the verification of student residency requirements.
4. Scan and link documents in imaging system.
5. Answers questions regarding registration, admissions, and student records policies and procedures of the District.
6. Assist with preparation and distribution of grades, and student schedules.
7. Prepares, copies, collates, and distributes a variety of documents; ensures proper filing of copies in departmental or central files.
8. Assists students with registration process, including online accounts and applications and late adds and reinstatements.
9. Assist with data entry of MIS data to comply with state reporting requirements.
10. Assist the Director with probation/dismissal processes.
11. Assist the Director with graduation processes.
12. Respond to telephone inquiries regarding records.
13. Assist in processing transcript requests, certification of attendance requests, and directory requests.
14. Monitor supply stock; reorder and/or copy admissions applications and various admission forms as needed.
15. Perform general typing and filing.
16. Learns and applies emerging technologies and, as necessary, to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner
17. Perform other work-related duties, as assigned.
Educational/Experience Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
2. Ability to type 40 wpm.
3. Passage of the college's clerical skills tests.
4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
5. Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines
6. Experience in data entry, retrieval, and report preparation.
7. Physical ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate of Arts degree with Business/Computer emphasis.
2. Prior experience at an institution of higher education.

CLASSIFICATION/SALARY
1. This is a 12-month full time classified position. May include evening and weekend duty.
2. Row 5 on the Classified salary schedule.
