JOB DESCRIPTION

Fullerton College Theatre Arts Department invites applications for adjunct instructor positions focusing on acting and performance, beginning August 2025. The positions involve instruction in foundational, intermediate, and advanced acting level courses and improvisation. The successful candidate will assist in developing the syllabus and direction of the courses with additional opportunities to teach classes reflecting the candidates areas of expertise. PRIMARY PURPOSE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.

Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Masters or Master of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/ performance

OR

Bachelors or Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama/theater arts/performance

AND Masters in comparative literature, English, communication studies, speech, literature or humanities

OR

Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.

OR

The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

Commitment to diversity. The applicant must be able to demonstrate how these factors relate to the need for equity minded practices within the classroom.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Teaching experience in one or more of the instructional areas mentioned in the job description.

Demonstrated the ability to collaborate as a member of an artistic team and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience with any of the following methodologies are desired. Certification/specialization in any of these areas is a plus but not required as teaching history, professional experience and aptitude are equally considered.:

Experience using multi-modal approaches and student-centered pedagogy to meet the needs of first generation, immigrant, and low-income students.

Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.

Experience successfully working in collaboration with full-time and adjunct faculty in coordinating and maintaining currency of curriculum that responds to the needs of historically underrepresented students.

This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
