Job Description:
The Cypress College Health Information Technology (HIT) program is looking for an experienced, flexible, engaging individual with an RHIT or RHIA to join our staff as an Adjunct faculty member.
We are a hybrid program with both day and evening on-campus courses and online opportunities.

  • Ability to work days and/or evenings in a hybrid program.
  • Some classes will be taught on campus and online.
  • Full online schedules available.


Primary Purpose:
Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any Bachelors degree or higher AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment

OR

Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment

OR

the equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

AND

Current Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of legal aspects, statistics, technology, pharmacology, revenue cycle management, ICD-10 and CPT coding.

Experience with distance education and Canvas learning module a plus.

Ability to support or contribute equitable outcomes and success for all students and/or employees. This includes the ability to effectively engage the colleges diverse student and/or employee population and the ability to address equity, inclusion and diversity.


Working Conditions:


Salary Range: $1391.74 - $1527.30 per lecture unit rate, $1391.74 - $1527.30 per lab parity unit rate, $1113.42 - $1221.77 per lab unit rate

Special Instructions Summary:
This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.

This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
