Serve as clinical coordinator of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with responsibility for maintaining accreditation standards. This includes supervision and evaluation of a diverse population of students in sonography training at affiliated hospitals.

The Clinical Coordinator is expected to visit and work with the students while training to assess student progress and act as the liaison between the college and hospital affiliates in promoting student success during clinical training. This will include a minimum of 2 visits per student per semester as required, during various clinical training shifts.

Maintain communication with Program Director and affiliated hospital personnel.

Maintain and assess all student electronic records pertaining to clinical training such as time logs, exam log, and all evaluations.

Teach assigned lecture and laboratory courses in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Health Science disciplines in a manner consistent with the departments standards, and with the content cited in the approved course outline and plan of instruction.

Acquire/maintain education and skills necessary for competency to teach any course in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Perform professional tasks related to the areas of assignment, in student advisement, curriculum design, evaluation, program review, computer skills and other affairs of the department/division.

Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities.

Participate in co-curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching in special programs designed to support student success.

Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle.

Maintain formal office and campus hours; participate in department and division meetings.

Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized and timely manner.

Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities; comply with district, college and division policies in the performance of duties.

Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions.

Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience in this area with African American, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students.

Work cooperatively with staff and students.

Evening and/or weekend assignments may be required as part of the regular contract, which includes a 40 hour/week work schedule.

Bachelors degree or higher and two years of professional experience directly related to the assignment;

OR

Associate degree or higher and six years of professional experience directly related to the assignment;

OR

Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.

AND THE FOLLOWING:

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and have completed the examination for the Abdomen and Obstetrics/Gynecology specialty areas.

Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential.

Bachelors degree or higher.

Experience in supervising, evaluating, and counseling sonography students in a clinical training setting.

Teaching experience, in higher education.

Experience using technology in instruction.

Experience working effectively and collaboratively in a team-teaching environment.

Experience designing alternative learning activities that develop and/or modify different training outcomes.

Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.

Initial salary placement will be determined by the Office of Human Resources in accordance with the faculty collective bargaining agreement and is not negotiable.
