Position Description

The Non-Credit/Adult Ed Grant Consulting Instructor (CI) will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Non-Credit Department, including coordinating off-site course requests, building relationships with community partners, scheduling non-credit classes in consultation with Deans and Department Chairs, coordinating the non-credit course offerings on-campus schedule, coordinating professional development activities for non-credit faculty, coordinating CASAs testing for non-credit courses in consultation with Department Chairs and Adult Ed, evaluating non-credit faculty, assisting with non-credit curriculum and program development and maintenance, coordinating the Non-Credit Office, participating on various campus committees, as well as other related duties as assigned. This is a limited grant-funded position for 1.0 D Basis FTE. The expected end date of the funding is June 2026, with the potential to be renewed for additional years.



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum qualification in one of the instructional disciplines offered at LAHC
  • Well-demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff, and students.



Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience designing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional projects and activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders.

  • Understanding of curriculum development and approval processes of a community college.

  • Understanding of shared governance and participatory decision-making processes of a community college.

  • Understanding of best practices in facilitating instruction within non-credit disciplines

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and experience with leading presentations using appropriate technological resources.

  • Understanding of CASAs testing and tracking student educational gains

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Work with the department chairs and VP EWD or Dean EWD to assist with Adult Ed curriculum development and maintenance.
    • Coordinates offsite requests/schedules classes in consultation with Deans/Department Chairs.
    • Coordinates Adult Ed on-campus schedule (Citizenship, GED, etc.).
    • Facilitates Professional Development Activities for Adult Ed faculty.
    • Coordinates CASAS testing for all non-credit courses in consultation with Department Chairs and Adult Ed staff.
    • Evaluates Faculty (pay eligible).
    • Coordinates the Adult Ed Office.
    • Participates in various campus committees, i.e., Curriculum Committee, Academic Senate, etc.
    • Other duties related to the assignment may be assigned.



    Salary and Benefits

    Placement on the salary schedule is determined by academic preparation and/or employment experience in accordance with AFT Contract. The salary ranges from $89,400 to $166,116. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential of $471 per month. District benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents. Full-time faculty already employed by LACCD will remain at the same salary placement.
