This position is completely funded by the California Adult Education Program (CAEP) and the English Language Learners for Allied Health Pathways Grant (ELL) for 1 year with possible renewal. Continuance of this position is contingent upon continued CAEP and ELL funding.
Los Angeles Community College District
The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) covers about 900 square miles, with nine colleges serving the residents of more than 30 incorporated cities or county communities along with 11 public school districts of Los Angeles County. LACCD's nine colleges, collectively, have helped to educate close to 4 million students. LACCD is the largest community college district in California and among the largest in the nation. Currently, LACCD enrolls about 205,000 full- and part-time students at its nine colleges. For the 2021-22 Academic Year, enrollment was 202,735 students. About half of all LACCD students report their incomes at near or below the poverty line.
The Education Services Center (ESC)
LACCD's-ESC is seeking a highly innovative, motivated and dynamic individual to serve as Noncredit CAEP and the ELL for Healthcare Pathways Grant,, Instructor Special Assignment. The instructor organizes, manages, and coordinates goals and activities supporting strategic processes, program development, and measurement of performance outcomes of the LACCD CAEP/ELL program. This position leads the design of innovations and best practices that align with the goals of adult learners. This is a limited position for 1.0 FTE assigned at D-Basis (i.e., 12-month) schedule. This position is completely funded by the CAEP/ELL. Continuance of this position is contingent upon continued CAEP/ELL funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the District Dean of Adult, Community & Continuing Education Programs & Services duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting with noncredit curriculum and program development and maintenance ensuring collaboration with employers, local Workforce Development Boards, academic and CTE faculty and alignment with programs such as WIOA, Strong Workforce and Guide Pathways.
- Assist NC faculty to identity the CAEP/ELL education healthcare programs pathways to market to the greater LACCD community.
- Perform duties associated with instruction and academic support.
- Coordinate and lead appropriate professional development trainings for noncredit faculty teaching the ELL Healthcare Grant Pathway.
- Coordinate and facilitate advisory committees, recruitment days, employer panels, and targeted job fairs.
- Collaborate with program coordinators to facilitate the collection, analysis and use of student and program performance data.
- Cultivate campus and community partnerships including industry, local non-profits, work source centers and other organizations that assist adults entering educational and workforce pathways.
- Participate in and serve on program, college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program.
- Represent LACCD in CAEP/ELL activities and faculty workgroups.
- Maintain positive and effective working relationships with on-campus groups (including students, faculty administrators and staff), as well as, employers, off-campus community, and educational partners.
- Timely compliance with district, college and division policies in the performance of duties.
- Maintain professional and ethical academic standards including maintaining accurate records in accordance with the policies, rules, regulations, and procedures of the Los Angeles Community College District.
- Other duties as related to assignment may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Formal training in instructional design and student learning.
- Experience designing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional projects and activities.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing program and student data in the development of program goals and services.
- Understanding of curriculum development and approval processes of a community college.
- Understanding of shared governance and participatory decision-making processes of a community college.
- Adult Education/Noncredit Teaching experience and understanding of best practices in facilitating instruction.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral, and experience with leading presentations using appropriate technological resources.
- Experience in the implementation of state and federally funded projects. Including the ability to Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated commitment to improving educational and employability outcomes for all students, particularly disproportionately impacted populations, including but not limited to, English language learners, formerly incarcerated, non-High School completers and undocumented students.
- Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with on-campus groups (including students, faculty administrators and staff), as well as off-campus community and educational partners.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Placement on the salary schedule is determined by academic preparation and/or employment experience in accordance with AFT Contract. The salary range from $89,400 to $166,116. Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential of $471 per month. District benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents.
