East Los Angeles College (ELAC) is a member in good standing of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), South Coast Conference (SCC), California Community College Wrestling (CACC Wrestling) and Southern California Football Association (SCFA). ELAC Athletics serves over 350 Student-Athletes across 17 intercollegiate sports including:
Badminton (Women's), Baseball (Men's), Basketball (Women's and Men's), Cross Country (Women's and Men's), Football (Men's), Soccer (Women's and Men's), Softball (Women's), Swimming & Diving (Women's), Track & Field (Women's and Men's), Volleyball (Women's), Water Polo (Women's), and Wrestling (Women's and Men's).
ABOUT WEST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE (WLAC) ATHLETIC PROGRAM
West Los Angeles College (WLAC) is a member in good standing of the Western State Conference (WSC) and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). WLAC Athletics serves over 250 Student-Athletes across 11 intercollegiate sports, including:
Football (Men's), Basketball (Women's and Men's), Cross Country (Women's and Men's), Soccer (Women's), Softball (Women's), Track and Field (Women's and Men's), and Volleyball (Women's).
JOB DESCRIPTION (Head Coach, Football)
The Colleges seek a part time, non-tenured Head Coach for Football to manage the Football program and teach fall and spring term Kinesiology Athletic classes: (1) Football Skills class and (1) Football Strength and Conditioning class. The successful candidate will report to the Athletics Director and is responsible for all aspects of planning, managing, and directing a successful Community College program; including coaching, practice and game preparation, recruiting, academic matriculation, placement, developing positive player-coach relationships, budget management, team travel, public relations, fund-raising, marketing, promotions, scheduling, rules compliance and other duties as assigned.
The position is for the 2024-2025 season but will require the candidate to begin student recruitment and training in the Spring 2025. The position is a part-time adjunct coaching assignment in the Athletic Department and continuation of the assignment is contingent upon funding and professional performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, which must be directly related to the teaching assignment; OR
- Associate's degree and six years of professional experience, which must be directly related to the teaching assignment;
- A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of district faculty, staff, and students.
Verification of Experience letters on letterhead stationery; must show inclusive dates of assignments, state if full-time or part-time and indicate duties. If part-time, the number of paid hours worked per week, semester or year must be included. Uploaded as an Other Document'. (Signed hard copies required if selected to interview).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT AND COVID 19 VACCINATIONS:
A medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work is required for new employees at the applicant's expense prior to employment.
Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status or have an approved exemption in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This position is paid at the contractual hourly rate during the season of competition for 10-standard teaching hours, plus a $18,270 stipend for out-of-class activities.
