POSITION DESCRIPTION


The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) announces a full-time tenure track Librarian position at East Los Angeles College (ELAC). The position is scheduled for the Fall of 2026. Seeking a dynamic, user-centered, and innovative librarian to lead the library's efforts in providing effective electronic resources at LACCD's ELAC Campus located in Monterey Park. This is a tenure-track Fall 2026 position is scheduled to start on August 31, 2026. The work schedule includes evening hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide in-person and online reference and instruction services to students, faculty, and staff using various print and electronic resources.

  • Manage, market, and maintain electronic resources, including databases, e-books, streaming videos, and online journals, to ensure seamless access.

  • Manage the electronic resource subscriptions and renewals, working closely with the Community College League of California's Library & Technology Consortium and vendors.

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for electronic resource management.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electronic resources in collaboration with vendors and IT staff.

  • Plan the electronic resources budget, monitor expenditures, and process invoice payments in coordination with the College fiscal office.

  • Collaborate with librarians to develop and implement strategies that maximize the use of electronic resources in teaching, learning, and research.

  • Support the integration of AI awareness and AI literacy within research and information literacy programming.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop policies and procedures on the evaluation, adoption, and use of AI tools.

  • Work with faculty to integrate electronic resources and AI literacy into the curriculum and research projects.

  • Serve on relevant committees such as the AI Steering Committee and LACCD Database Committee.

  • Stay informed about copyright laws, licensing agreements, and ADA requirements related to electronic resources.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in electronic resources management, and related areas such as AI literacy and OER/ZTC.

  • Must work evening hours and assist in library closing procedures.

  • Perform other librarian duties as assigned.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in library science or library and information science or the equivalent from an accredited college or university

  • A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management of electronic resources, including subscriptions and renewals.

  • Experience in analyzing usage statistics of electronic resources.

  • Experience working with vendors for new electronic resources and establishing trials.

  • Experience in collection development of e-books and OER/ZTC.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for electronic resources and how to remediate barriers to improve accessibility.

  • Knowledge of AI tools and AI integration for curriculum and research needs.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (oral and written).

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the department chair, fellow librarians, and classified staff.

  • Experience serving a population with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.



    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    The current starting range is from $76,960 - $143,000 for the ten-month academic year depending on education and experience. The Ph.D. differential is $4,870 per academic year. The district provides an excellent benefits package including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents.
