SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Acting Director of Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Achievement (MESA), under the general direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, plans, coordinates, implements, and oversees a comprehensive program supporting MESA students for the college with an emphasis on reducing equity gaps within STEM education. The MESA Program Acting Director provides vision and leadership in a multicultural environment, implements plans for student development, leadership, and curricular excellence; creates a coordinated program of activities and events to meet the needs of the current and future diverse student populations pursuing STEM degrees. The Acting Director of MESA also directs activities, performs a variety of professional, administrative, and programmatic work in support of assigned programs including serving as a liaison to, coordinating with, and providing high level administrative support and staff assistance to district staff, boards, committees, and outside agencies. In addition, the director provides leadership with organizational, operational, and structural functions of public and/or private post-secondary institutions; works independently and takes initiative in carrying out assignments. The Acting Director is also responsible for ensuring student eligibility, that student contractual agreements are met, maintains program records, coordinates evaluation of program activities and accomplishments, participates in MESA training, evaluation, and other activities, and works to ensure the successful implementation of the program.

General Requirements
Health: A medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work is required for new employees at the applicant's expense after selection and prior to employment

Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date
Evaluation Procedures
1. All applications will be reviewed for entrance qualifications.
2. A college selection committee will review all completed and approved application materials, and only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
3. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview following the committee screening which will involve an evaluation of the candidate's qualifications in the areas of training, experience, and personal fitness.
4. Based upon the selection committee report, the college President will interview the recommended finalists and will make the final decision.
5. The Chancellor will recommend one candidate to the Board of Trustees for appointment.

4. Copies of transcripts* (unofficial legible transcripts with the degrees posted on them, are acceptable to be considered for the initial application period. However, if selected as a finalist, additional documentation, such as official transcripts) will be required. *Candidates who have earned degrees from foreign institutions are required to submit both official translations and evaluations of their transcripts that have been prepared by a certified U.S. credential review service in order for the application to be considered.
