LOCATION
Palo Verde College is located in the City of Blythe at one of the busiest entrance points to California. The college is located in a desert oasis adjacent to the beautiful Colorado River and the Palo Verde Valley. Blythe, and the fertile Palo Verde Valley, is primarily a farming and ranching area. Boating, fishing and hunting attract many tourists. The Palo Verde Valley is centrally located between Phoenix and Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Mexican border. The valley's great climate, with more than 350 days of sunshine and mild winters, attracts thousands of winter visitors every year.
NATURE OF THE POSITION
The Instructional Aide, working under the direct supervision of the college instructor, assists with the duties in the classroom and laboratory. An aide will be hired for a specific discipline as needed to meet the necessary needs of the specific program such as but not limited to safety and student ratios. The Instructional Aide may help various faculty members on an as needed basis to be determined by the Office of Instructional Services.
Examples of Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with the distribution of supplies in the classroom.
2. Collect daily assignments and submit to the instructor.
3. Use office machines such as computers, phones, fax, copier, 10-key, etc.
4. Assist with set-up of the classroom.
5. Calling students who are absent and maintain records.
6. Orient students to the Learning Skills Center/Library and/or orientation to take online assessments, CCCApply, WebAdvisor and the PVC Bridge.
7. Assist students in learning the proper use of equipment assigned to the specific subject area.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational/Experience Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school graduate or GED.
2. Ability to type 40 words per minute.
3. Ability to pass the Clerical Skills testing requirements.
4. Ability to work cooperatively with others and to use sound judgement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate's degree.
2. Bi-lingual English/Spanish.

CLASSIFICATION/SALARY
1. This is a 12-month, permanent part-time (19 hours per week) classified position. May include evening and weekend duty.
2. Row 3 on the classified salary schedule.
