General/Dual Enrollment Counselor (Tenure Track)
Posting Number: F01192
Location: San Ramon Campus
Salary:
Description of Position:
Diablo Valley College inspires, educates, and empowers a diverse community of students to transform their lives and their communities. DVC instructors close the equity gaps by fostering success among all students. To help further this work, DVC seeks a tenure-track Counselor (General / Dual Enrollment) to start in August 2025 / Fall 2025.
We are looking for a colleague who will demonstrate discipline expertise and show sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds and abilities of community college students.
We are looking for counselors who share a strong commitment to social and racial justice and who use or are inspired to use anti-racist pedagogies that close equity gaps by recognizing, understanding, and respecting the perspectives of all students.
We strongly encourage those with historically marginalized and/or underrepresented identities to apply, including people of color, non-binary and transgender individuals, women, and Indigenous people.
Thank you for your interest in applying for the tenure-track faculty position in the Counseling area at the San Ramon Campus of DVC! The successful applicant will teach Counseling courses, develop Career and Counseling curriculum, run workshops and onboarding events, provide foundational educational planning, and work with our College Connect team to support matriculation efforts. We are looking for a colleague who is enthusiastic about helping students explore careers and majors, understand educational pathways, develop study skills, get connected to campus resources, and overcome obstacles to their success. The successful applicant will aid the college's efforts to sustain and grow our dual enrollment program and serve as the dual enrollment counselor for SRC's College Connect program. This position requires on-campus counseling, and a familiarity with online counseling and teaching is desirable.
The San Ramon Campus of Diablo Valley College is a vibrant smaller campus organized into departments that encompass a broad range of disciplines. At SRC, Counseling is part of the Applied Arts and Social Sciences Department. The successful applicant will be one of three full-time Counselors in the department. In addition to participating in the functioning of a multidisciplinary department and division, the successful applicant will liaise with colleagues in Counseling and other departments at the Pleasant Hill Campus of Diablo Valley College. The San Ramon Campus serves an ethnically and culturally diverse body of students, dual enrollment (high school) students, working adults, and lifelong learners.
We know that the application process is a lot of work and appreciate the effort that applicants make in applying for this position. We are excited at the prospect of learning how applicants can add to our campus and college, and at the prospect of welcoming a new colleague in Fall 2025.
