Description of Position:
The Engineering Technology Department at Diablo Valley College is seeking qualified part-time instructors, Successful candidates must have experience and skills to teach safety in the machine laboratory, blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation, inspection, and quality control. Courses may include electrical and power schematics, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems and components, electrical controls and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic system and components, use of flow meters and pressure gauges to measure valves, pump shaft, coupling, and motor shaft to meet given specifications, the fundamentals of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), and the science and technology involved in robotics systems including input and output devices and programing controllers and program coding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
4. meeting with students outside of class;
5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
8. maintaining accurate academic records;
9. performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
EDUCATION:
Masters in any field of engineering technology or engineering
OR
Bachelors degree in either of the above
AND
Masters degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, biological science or chemistry,
OR
Bachelors degree in industrial technology, engineering technology or engineering
AND
A professional engineers license
OR the equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications:
Applicants should have excellent skills in communication and experience working with individuals or teams in a collaborative educational environment. Although teaching experience is preferred, applicants with no prior teaching experience but a strong aptitude or interest in teaching are encouraged to apply.
