West Los Angeles College (WLAC) announces an opening for a Vice President of Student Services, Enrollment Management, and Equity Initiatives. The position will be open as of July 1, 2024, with the selected candidate to begin as soon as possible thereafter and as soon as the clearance process is completed by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Human Resources Office.

The Vice President for Student Services, Enrollment Management, and Equity Initiatives reports directly to the President and is a member of the College's executive leadership team. The Vice President serves as the Chief Student Services Officer and is responsible for comprehensive student services, including planning, policy, and budget development/management. The Vice President also holds executive responsibility for two important campus-wide initiatives;
  • Developing, monitoring, and managing a comprehensive enrollment management policy; and
  • Coordinating, in consultation with multiple campus entities, a comprehensive series of equity initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications requirements as below:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university. The required degree must be completed at the time of filing an application.
  • 1 year of full-time formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.
  • Evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the socioeconomic, academic, cultural and ethnic diversity within the community college population, including students with physical and/or learning disabilities.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Three to five years of successful full-time experience (dean or higher) in accredited institutions of higher education.
  2. Community college experience.
  3. Experience in one or more functional areas of Counseling, Student Financial Aid, Admission and Records.
  4. In-depth knowledge of at least one major State of California categorical program and working knowledge of others such as Extended Opportunity Program (EOPS), CalWorks, DSPS, SSSP, Student Equity, or Student Financial Aid.
  5. Direct experience with implementing and coordinating enrollment management initiatives.
  6. Direct experience in the leadership, through consultation and campus engagement, of broad-based equity initiatives.
  7. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  8. Knowledge of the California Education Code related to Student Services.
  9. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in participatory governance, consensus-building and team management.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Experience with accreditation, service area outcomes, program reviews, and student learning outcomes (SLOs).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provides college-wide leadership for Student Success as well as overall leadership for the college in all operational activities related to Student Services.
  2. Provides college-wide leadership for a comprehensive enrollment management program.
  3. Provide college-wide leadership, in consultation with multiple campus entities, for equity initiatives.
  4. Ensures that all Student Services programs complete timely and accurate governmental reporting and compliance with laws and regulations within the area of responsibility.
  5. Oversees college credit and non-credit courses and programs such as Puente, Student Success and Support Program (SSSP), Summer Bridge, and counseling.
  6. Collaborates on enrollment, budget, and student success with other college divisions.
  7. Actively participates in the college's participatory governance committees and plays a leadership role.
  8. On an on-going basis, provides leadership for accreditation issues related to Student Services. Coordinates annual unit plans, program reviews, and service outcomes.
  9. Contributes to the overall management of the College as part of the President's Senior Staff (along with the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development and the Vice President for Administrative Services and Innovation).
  10. Administers the following areas in conjunction with college personnel:
    -Admissions and Records

    -SSSP

    -Athletics

    -Student discipline and student due process

    -Financial Aid (federal, state, private, and scholarship programs)

    -Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)

    -Services for Students with Disabilities (DSPS)

    -Associated Student Union (Student Activities)

    -Student Health Center and the college's licensed clinical psychologist

    -Counseling

    -Career/Transfer Center

    -Child Development Center

    -Welcome Center

    -Basic Needs

    -International Students

    -Outreach and Recruitment

    -Veterans
  11. Supervises and evaluates assigned clerical and administrative staff.
  12. Represents the college in district, regional, and state level activities related to Student Services operations.
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned by the President.



COMPENSATION and BENEFITS

LACCD determines placement on the pay scale depending on verified education and experience. Current starting annual salary range is from: $198,518 to $245,929.
